3 Easy Ways to Make Protein Rich Idlis

1. MOONG & URAD DAL IDLI

Ingredients

  • 2 cup Yellow Moong Dal
  • 1 cup White Urad Dal
  • 1/2 cup Ragi flour (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • 1/2 spoon Salt
  • Water for making batter

Recipe

  • Add Fenugreek to Urad Dal. Now soak the Urad dal & Moong separately for at least 3 hours.
  • After soaking, drain & grind both Dals separately with minimum water(3/4thcup).
  • Once both Dal have been grinded, pour them in a separate bowl, mix them very well(preferably with your clean hands)Add salt & let it ferment overnight
  • In the morning, add water to adjust consistency as needed. Steam the batter using Idli maker! Enjoy them with homemade Coconut chutneys!
  • As a good hormone friendly fat, I like to add Seeds on my Idli with loads of fresh Curry leaves


2. Ragi & Urad Dal Idli

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup White Urad Dal
  • 1/2 cup Brown Rice
  • 1/2 cup Red Rice Poha
  • 1 cup Ragi Flour
  • 1/4 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • 1/2 spoon Salt
  • Water for making batter

Recipe

  • Add Fenugreek to Urad Dal. In a separate bowl, add Poha to Rice. Soak these separately for at least 3 hours.
  • After soaking, drain & grind both Urad Dal mixture and rice mixture separately with minimum (3/4th cup) water.
  • Once both mixtures have been grinded, pour them in a separate bowl, mix them very well. (preferably with your clean hands). Add Ragi, salt & let it ferment overnight.
  • In the morning, add water to adjust consistency as needed. Steam the batter using Idli maker! Enjoy them with homemade Lentil chutneys!
  • Add Seeds and loads of fresh Curry leaves.


3. Green Moong Idli

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup White Urad Dal
  • 1 cup Green Moong
  • 1/2 cup grated carrot
  • 1/2 spoon ginger- green chilli paste
  • 1/4 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • 1/2 spoon Salt
  • Water for making batter

Recipe

  • Mix Fenugreek, Green moong and Urad Dal & Soak these for at least 3 hours.
  • After soaking, drain them & grind with 3/4th cup water.
  • Once the mixture has been grinded, mix them very well(preferably with your clean hands). Add salt, carrots, ginger chilies paste. Cover with a lid & let it ferment overnight.
  • In the morning, add water to adjust consistency as needed. Steam the batter using Idli maker! Enjoy them with homemade Coriander chutneys!
